Nestled along the former runway, our project envisions a remarkable addition to the existing building – a functional reading lounge with 360-degree panoramic views facilitated by floor-to-ceiling windows. Illuminated by abundant natural light, this space will serve as an ideal haven for reading, studying, and hosting special events and exhibitions.
A defining feature of the new roof design is its harmonious integration with the circular roof of the observation tower, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the structure. The roof gently bends at the midpoint, allowing visitors to catch a captivating glimpse of the observation tower as they access the space from the courtyard.
In our pursuit of an ecologically conscious approach, we opt for sustainable materials, particularly wood, to form the structure of the new addition. This strategic decision reduces the weight on the reinforced concrete columns of the ground floor significantly, making the addition of a new floor entirely feasible.
In addition to the reading lounge, the observation tower will feature an enchanting open-air café terrace, perfectly complementing the lounge’s functionality. Guests seated along the perimeter balustrade will relish breathtaking vistas of the surrounding commercial streets from a captivating vantage point.
