Our project, the Ningbo Tower, harmoniously marries tradition and modernity, resulting in a high-tech architectural marvel inspired by the timeless elegance of a lighthouse. Rising gracefully on the riverbank, amidst towering buildings, this observation tower graces the Riverside Ecological Park like a beacon of wonder and discovery.
The tower’s design features a truncated cone, crowned with a disk-shaped observation deck that offers a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the park and the flowing river. As night descends, the truncated cone illuminates from top to bottom, emanating a warm and inviting glow through the translucent polycarbonate material. This captivating display transforms the tower into a mesmerizing landmark, captivating the hearts of all who visit the park.
Visitors ascend to the observation deck via a modern lift and gracefully descend through a circular staircase. As they make their way down, the central core envelops them with lush hanging plants, resembling a cascading ‘waterfall’ of green foliage. This thoughtful arrangement not only adds to the visual allure but also regulates the indoor climatic conditions, creating a harmonious environment for all.
Inside the observation deck, we have meticulously designed artificial contours, shaping a multilevel space that allows visitors to savor varying river views from different heights, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass that seamlessly connects the interior with the magnificent outdoors.
A captivating green corridor, elevated 10 meters above ground level, artfully links the tower with the surrounding network of footpaths, leading directly to the Jinlin Metro Station, bustling with a vibrant flow of people. This elevated corridor, lush with biodiversity and a diverse array of meticulously selected tree species, mirrors the enchanting experience of a Highline. As the sun sets, the polycarbonate handrails on both sides softly illuminate, creating a spectacular linear light projection that dances along the riverbank. Beyond a simple pedestrian walkway, this multifunctional corridor transforms into an urban oasis, inviting people to indulge in moments of leisure and social interaction.
Seating areas thoughtfully nestled among the trees offer inviting viewpoints for visitors to relax and bask in the beauty of the scenery. These spaces can be transformed into delightful gathering spots, adorned with tables and chairs, allowing people to dine while being surrounded by nature’s splendor.
Standing gracefully upon a majestic plinth, the tower is graced with regal stairs that gracefully descend to the river’s edge. This stunning location not only serves as an ideal vantage point to relish scenic beauty but also doubles as a charming setting for hosting events and celebrations, weaving unforgettable memories into the fabric of the park.
