Our visionary project, the ‘Stream Garden’ in Nanjing Green Expo Garden, seamlessly blends contemporary design with a profound appreciation for the existing environment, resulting in an elegant intervention that celebrates the intricate bond between humans and nature.
Inspired by the ethereal beauty of floating lilies, our design envisions a grand protective ring that showcases the diverse water plants and vegetation present on the site. A circular footpath structure gracefully traverses the stream, encompassing the existing wooden bridge and framing a mesmerizing section of the water. Within this captivating enclosure, a harmonious pond teems with water plants and lively fish, offering visitors an enchanting spectacle to admire.
As guests leisurely stroll along the circular path, they will be immersed in the flora and fauna of the pond. This educational experience will captivate children, allowing them to explore and learn about different types of lilies and irises thriving in the water. Colorful flowers, adorning the floating baskets, will be thoughtfully refreshed periodically, adding bursts of vibrant hues to the serene water surface. Koi fishes, goldfishes, ducks, and other avian companions will animate the pond, infusing life into the serene landscape. The ever-changing sky will gracefully paint the water’s surface with varying tones throughout the seasons, lending a dynamic charm to the garden.
On the west riverbank, a serene viewpoint area awaits, featuring an elongated linear seat where visitors can relax and savor the picturesque scenery. A captivating mirror-crafted building elegantly integrates with nature, reflecting the surrounding trees and vegetation. Inside, a generous space will host art exhibitions and cultural events, providing an immersive experience that overlooks the lily pond and the wooden bridge. The floor-to-ceiling window will elegantly frame this living painting, connecting the indoor and outdoor realms in perfect harmony.
On the east riverbank, a small yet tranquil pavilion, adorned with mirror panels, will serve as a serene chapel for meditation. Adorned with wood accents, the interior emanates a calming aura, offering another vantage point to admire the pond and the bridge, with the exhibition gallery beyond.
As the sun sets, the circular footpath structure transforms into a luminous ring, illuminating the forest with its warm glow. This radiant circle, symbolizing ‘fulfillment’ and ‘unity,’ stands as an embodiment of harmony, captivating visitors and becoming a remarkable landmark visible even from the skies above.
